Step into the fascinating history of the Folkestone Leas Lift with Lifting Stories — an enchanting puppet and visual theatre performance for all ages.
Created and performed by Folkestone Puppets, this interactive show brings to life the remarkable journey of the town’s beloved funicular railway — from its grand opening in 1885 to its closure in 2017 and the exciting plans for its reopening next year.
Blending storytelling, craftsmanship, and imagination, Lifting Stories celebrates the spirit of community and innovation that has defined the Leas Lift for over a century.
Founded in 2017 by André Veríssimo, Folkestone Puppets creates original works that entertain, inspire, and challenge. For this special production, Veríssimo and his team of local artists have crafted a heartfelt tribute to one of Folkestone’s most treasured landmarks.
