We're Recruiting: Chief Executive Officer

We're Recruiting: Chief Executive Officer

We're Recruiting: Chief Executive Officer

The Folkestone Leas Lift is recruiting a permanent Chief Executive Officer to lead the organisation through the next chapter in its history.

With the major restoration of the Grade II* listed funicular progressing and preparations for reopening gathering pace, the role represents an exciting opportunity to help take the Leas Lift from restoration into long-term operation as a sustainable and successful visitor destination.

The new Chief Executive will lead the organisation through this transition, working with Trustees, staff, volunteers, funders and partners to establish a strong operational and commercial foundation for the future.

Alongside overseeing the day-to-day operation of the organisation, the role will have a strong focus on developing sustainable income streams including ticketing, retail, food and beverage, events, sponsorship and fundraising. The Chief Executive will also play an important role in developing the Leas Lift as a destination, growing audiences and maintaining the strong relationship between the Lift and the Folkestone community.
The recruitment of a permanent Chief Executive follows a period in which Jo Streeter has served as Interim CEO.

Jo was already a Trustee of the Leas Lift before stepping into the interim position, providing leadership and continuity during an important stage of the restoration programme. Once the permanent Chief Executive is appointed, Jo will step back into her role as a Trustee and continue to support the organisation as a member of the Board.
The Trustees are looking for a strategic, creative and business-minded leader who combines strong commercial and financial skills with an understanding of the importance of heritage, community and inclusion.

The permanent, full-time role offers a salary of £65,000 and will be based between the Leas Lift in Folkestone and homeworking, with some evening and weekend working required to support events and peak operational periods.

How to apply
Candidates should submit:
  • A covering letter of no more than two pages outlining their interest in the role and how their experience meets the requirements
  • A current CV
Applications should be sent to hello@leaslift.co.uk.
The closing date is Friday 4 September 2026.

First-stage interviews are expected to take place during the week commencing 14 September, with final interviews during the week commencing 28 September.
